Yay - Daily Post Finalist, Food and Drink
I've finally got round to writing another blog.
Last week I attended the Daily Post Awards at Bangor University as a finalist! A great night and an excuse to get out of my dairy whites and blue hairnet. Up against Aberfalls Distillery and Signatures Restaurant in Conwy, which I think is an achievement in itself. Aberfalls Whisky Distillery won on the night, so congratulation as their Gin (and now whisky) is great. It's well worth a visit for either their gin tasting or whisky tour and then grab a bite to eat in their new bistro. Signatures was also a finalist and is a fabulous restaurant on a holiday park in Conwy, which I can also highly recommend - booked a table for our wedding anniversary a couple of years ago - amazing food and service.
So, what's next? I'm entering my cheese into the Virtual Cheese Awards, which I haven't done before. The Virtual Cheese Awards launched in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic to promote and celebrate the fantastic British cheese industry. The awards are unique as they allow entrants to see their cheese judged live and get instant feedback - eekkk!
The Virtual Cheese Awards has pulled together an esteemed collection of judges, who hopefully will enjoy my cheese. Nigel Barden, broadcaster and journalist, is the Virtual Cheese Awards host and has managed both the 2020 and 2021 live finals. Nigel specialises in promoting British ingredients and artisan producers, particularly in his role as chairman of judges for The Great Taste Awards, Farm Shop & Deli Awards, World Cheese Awards, British Cookery School Awards, Deliciously Yorkshire and host of the National Fish & Chip and Ice Cream Alliance Awards.
I'll no doubt eventually let you know how I get on.
Till next time
